Open Mesh: Let it go, let it go!

We have been working with the Open Mesh product line for well over a decade, and over the past few years we have seen the product range go end of sale and finally end of support by Datto in December 2021.

Most of the Open Mesh hardware out there in the wild is getting on in age and is starting to struggle to keep up with the latest Wi-Fi advancements. With the arrival of Plasma Cloud we were able to lead a drive to migrate the Open Mesh deployments to a new platform where they could have their lifespan extended just that little bit longer.

Plasma Cloud is driving forward with many new features and better performing hardware which will support many of the newer Wi-Fi standards such as Wi-Fi 6E and WPA3. The downside is that the older Open Mesh hardware will not be able to support these newer features, so the time has come to announce the End of Support for the Open Mesh product line.

It’s not all grim news though, you will still be able to migrate your Open Mesh networks over to Plasma Cloud before the end of this year, making it easier to migrate to newer Plasma Cloud hardware in the future.

There’s lots of exciting stuff coming from Plasma Cloud including Wi-Fi 6E access points, a new switching range and a new major firmware release to include WPA3 among other features.

Start adding Plasma Cloud to your networks now to make the most of the new features coming soon! To take the sting out of process we have access point bundles and networking starter packs (including a PoE switch and access points).
